Please excuse me for being a bit off topic from this group's subject.

I've been working for a company where they claim I've
been working under the table and is a very new company.

On of the owners if not both have another business. Not
sure if they're using accounts from the other business
to meet possible IRS audit standards.

Right new I have an unemployment claim. How probable is it
the IRS will go after the company I'm working for and put
it out of business or at least come back and say,
"look this guy claimed he was working for you, you're
not meeting IRS standards and are avoiding taxes." It's
a small shop we work out but the company is national
and it's headquarters is in another state. I'm not
working with a 1099 contract where we basically set up
times for consultants to go out and give estimates
for cabinet refacing. The other thing is I've been
paid checks. Really hate cashing them because Amscott
charges.

Thanks in advanced for any responses.

This is typical Santa Barbara County business chicanery. It is also
typical of California in general, which is why we're stuck in the
political morass called a "recall election." Avoiding payroll taxes
is part and parcel of the Conservative agenda, even though these
"assumed business costs" are passed on to the end consumer. The
"windfall" from avoidance of these taxes ends up in the pockets of the
company scummage that employs you. TURN 'EM IN!!!
